Yale students arrested while protesting financial aid policy
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A group of Yale University students have been arrested for trespassing following a protest at the school's financial aid office.
Students refused to leave the financial aid office as they demanded Yale stop requiring students on financial aid to make a mandatory contribution totaling thousands of dollars.
The New Haven Register reports the requirement consists of a student job contributing from $2,800 to $3,350, and for upperclassmen to pay close to $6,000 a year. A university spokesman says more than half of undergraduate Yale students receive a need-based Yale scholarship.
