Philadelphia Union post photo of garbage truck on Twitter, D.C. United and Red Bulls accounts respond
The tweet has since been deleted
It’s hard being the social media manager for the Philadelphia Union these days. No matter the subject — a new mascot, a community event, a game day promotion, etc. — fans are quick to pounce and express their frustration with the team’s performance on the field.
But when you post a photo of a garbage truck — even in relation to a promotion that could snag a lucky fan four free tickets to an upcoming game — it’s too good for even the official social media accounts of rival teams to pass up.
The original tweet has since been deleted, but it was up long enough for both the Twitter accounts for the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United to respond.

Here’s the original tweet, by the way.
And here are a few more responses:
You. Seriously. Parked a garbage truck. In front of Talen. And tweeted a picture. With the Union logo in the background. With the way this season has started. After that performance last weekend.

I didn't think you could make me any more ashamed of this franchise.
I can't even.
the tweets just write themselves honestly. i'm not sure what exactly they thought was going to happen sending out a tweet like this with the ironically garbage play they've put on the field this season

Amazingly bad. The union are trash enough without a garbage truck outside Talen.

The Union took down the garbage truck tweet, probably thinking no one would notice during the Champions League game.
