Papa John's promotes VP Joe Smith to CFO post
Papa John's International Inc. said late Thursday that Joe Smith, most recently its senior vice president of sales and development, has been promoted to chief financial officer effective immediately. Smith joined Papa John's in 2000. He replaces Lance Tucker, who left in January to take the CFO job at Jack in the Box Inc. . Founder John Schnatter stepped down as Papa John's chief executive in December, and Steve Ritchie, former franchisee and chief operating officer, took over as CEO on Jan. 1. The company in November apologized for Schnatter's comments during an earnings call earlier that month blaming poor sales on NFL player protests. Papa John's shares were flat in late trading and ended the regular session up 0.8%.
