KNIGHTS' MEN'S SOCCER KICKS OFF 2018 SEASON AT SCAD INVITATIONAL
HARDEEVILLE, SC – In its first road trip of the 2018 season, the St. Andrews Knights men's soccer team dropped two games in the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Invitational played in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Joining St. Andrews and SCAD in the event were Tennessee Wesleyan College (TWC) (Athens, TN) and Southeastern University (SEU) out of Lakeland, Florida.
In their first game of the invitational, the Knights fell to SEU by a score of 4-0. In the second, the Knights lost to host SCAD 3-1. The Bees scored all three goals in the first half against the Knights, and goalkeeper Valentino Parini (JR/Milan, Italy) kept them out of the net throughout the entire second half. Parini posted seven saves with only three goals allowed. Julio Rico (SR/Madrid, Spain) of the Knights scored on a penalty kick at 82:21 into the game.
The Bulldogs of TWC were the only team to win both of its contests in the event. SCAD and SEU finished 1-1 each, while the Knights finished 0-2.
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, September 1 for a high noon game as they travel to Beckley, West Virginia to face the Golden Bears of the West Virginia Institute of Technology at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Sports Complex. Their first home game will be on Wednesday, September 5th as the men's (4:00 p.m.) and women's (2:00 p.m.) soccer teams play host to Regent University out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
