Gary Lineker took to Twitter to have his say on Luis Suarez’s goal in FC Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool FC on Wednesday night.
The Uruguay international lined up against his former team for the first time since Suarez moved to FC Barcelona in a £75m deal in 2014.
Suarez broke the deadlock in the 26th minute after Liverpool FC had made a promising start to the first leg of their semi-final.
The 32-year-old managed to ghost between Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk before the South American guided a finish past Alisson Becker.
Suarez, unsurprisingly, celebrated his goal against his former club before the Uruguayan was involved with clashes with Alisson and Robertson later in the first half.
Former Tottenham striker Lineker was quick to note that Suarez celebrated against Liverpool FC.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “First blood to @FCBarcelona and it’s Suarez against his former club…and yes he celebrated.”
FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi extended the home side’s 2-0 lead with a fortuitous goal in the second half before the Argentina international netted for the 600th time for the Catalan side with a brilliant free-kick.
Former FC Barcelona striker Lineker reacted to Messi’s milestone goal.
Lineker posted: “WOW! Just Wow. Messi scores his 600th goal for @FCBarcelona with as good a freekick as you’ll ever see. The little genius defies logic.”
Suarez was named the PFA player of the year in 2013-14 after Suarez netted 31 goals in 33 games in his final season in the English top flight.
The Reds are looking to win the Champions League title for the first time since 2005 when Steven Gerrard and company beat AC Milan on penalties.
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last term.
