Coal transition in India won't lead to job losses if systems designed correctly: ISA DG Ajay Mathur
India's transition towards renewable energy will not result in job losses in coal-dependent regions if the country designs its systems correctly, according to Ajay Mathur, Director-General of the International Solar Alliance. While the aim is to diminish coal's contribution to the energy mix from 50% to 30% and achieve 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, Mathur believes the renewable sector holds promise for employment generation, particularly at the user level.
