Local police were the first to reach the property after receiving a 999 call.
Paramedics were also dispatched along with an air ambulance but there was nothing they could do to save the youngster’s life and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragedy, which happened at around 10am this morning, is believed to have happened at the home of the boy’s expat grandfather.
DROWNED ON HOLIDAY
A source at a medical emergency response co-ordination centre added: “A call was received at 10am saying a child had fallen into a swimming pool and had been pulled out but was unconscious.
“The incident happened in an area of La Vinuela called Los Romanes.
“The Civil Guard, the local police and ambulance service were alerted.
“An air ambulance was sent to the scene along with a normal ambulance but we were later informed the boy had died.”
A routine investigation into the probe has been launched which will be coordinated by a local investigating judge.
MEDICS TRIED TO SAVE HIM
This comes after five-year-old Theo Treharne-Jones, from Cefn Coed, South Wales, died on Saturday after falling into a swimming pool in Kos, Greece.
Theo is thought to have woken earlier than his parents before wandering from their hotel room at the Atlantica Holiday Village resort.
His family loved the sunshine resort and had flown back to the same hotel they had previously visited with parents Nina Treharne and Richard Jones, both 38, as well as his older sister and younger brother.
A neighbour said: “It is absolutely heartbreaking news. They are such a lovely family and the two boys are real sweeties.
