The Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud has called the attack in a wedding hall in Kabul city as a ‘cowardly criminal act’.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that Prince Salman sent a cable of condolences to President Ashraf Ghani following the attack.
Prince Salman said “I have heard the news of the terrorist bombing at a wedding in the capital city of Kabul, and the resulting deaths and injuries and I condemn this cowardly criminal act and I convey to you, the brotherly people of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the families of the deceased my deepest condolences and wish a speedy recovery for the injured.”
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The group issued a statement in Arabic on Sunday claiming that the attack was carried out by ISIS suicide bomber Abu Asim Al-Pakistani.
Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said the explosion took place at around 10:40 pm local time on Saturday inside Hotel Shahr-e Dubai in 6th district of the city.
Rahimi further added that a suicide bomber detonated his explosives among the guests of a wedding.
According to security officials, the attack killed 63 people and wounded at least 182 others.
