FUMING shoppers looking for a bargain at a clearance of stock at administration hit Watt Brothers in Glasgow claimed that “prices are still the same”.
Bargain hunters queued round the block outside the flagship store to shop the final stock clearance sale after they plunged into administration yesterday morning.
Punters eagerly awaited the shop opening its doors at 10am.
And hundreds gathered outside the main entrance on Sauchiehall Street.
Staff opened doors and punters flooded in to the shop.
But some claimed that there weren’t any reductions in the price of stock.
One said: “I was there at the Glasgow shop this morning.
“There was no sale and everything is the same price.
“The queue was massive outside the store first thing.”
Other shoppers could be heard outside the branch complaining about prices.
Bosses confirmed that a stock clearance was being held first thing this morning.
Administrators KPMG have been approached for comment by the Scottish Sun.
Over 229 members of staff were immediately made redundant as the announcement was made yesterday.
Blair Nimmo, Joint Administrator and UK Head of Restructuring at KPMG, said: “Despite the director’s tireless efforts to increase margins, cut costs and recapitalise the business, Watt Brothers continued to incur trading losses as a result of the well-publicised challenges being experienced across the retail sector.
“Ultimately this has led to the unfortunate demise of a well-known and highly-regarded business.
