Fiona, 59, told The Mirror: “I came off Twitter altogether because even when they think you’re on death’s door, there are still people making nasty comments about you.”
The TV star – best known for being the bubbly GMTV anchorwoman who sat beside Eamonn Holmes for nine years – opened up about her symptoms in March.
She tweeted: “I am in bed with #coronvirusuk.
“It’s not a very pleasant bedfellow, but nothing more than sore throat, dry cough, headache & tiredness. As long as it stays that way….DON’T panic!”

Her former co-star Eamonn sent her his best wishes, writing: “Get well soon Miss Fiona. Keep us posted x”.
In reply to another follower’s message, Fiona said she “wasn’t suffering” and was fine.
After three weeks in bed she managed to leave her home for a stroll around the block.
The TV presenter looked fresh faced and happy to be outside after resting in bed for the last three weeks.

Looking back, Fiona did admit there was “an element of fear” as she battled the illness.
She said: “There’s an element of fear. The unknown is very scary. But I didn’t have time to think of whether I might not get through out because it knocked me out.
“I’ve never spent so long in bed in my life – they were my list weeks. So my body rested and got rid of it properly.
“I completely let the illness take me over. Now I’m fed up and can’t wait for this to me over.”
