Anansi Boys TV Show Casts Da 5 Bloods' Delroy Lindo | Screen Rant
Amazon's upcoming limited series Anansi Boys, an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 2005 fantasy novel, casts Da 5 Bloods' Delroy Lindo in the lead role.
Actor Delroy Lindo, whose acclaimed work includes Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods, is set to take on the lead role in Amazon's Anansi Boys. Anansi Boys will be a limited series adapted from Neil Gaiman's 2005 novel of the same name. Gaiman will serve as a co-showrunner with Douglas Mackinnon, who previously directed every episode of Gaiman's Good Omens for Amazon. The plot is said to follow Charlie Nancy as he learns of a long-lost brother following the death of his estranged father, who turned out to be Anansi, the trickster god of stories.
According to THR, Lindo will take on the role of Mr. Nancy/Anansi, with Gaiman himself saying, "Delroy Lindo is a giant of the stage and the screen, and we are so lucky to have him." However, Lindo won't be the first actor to tackle the part, as Orlando Jones previously played Anansi in American Gods, another adaptation of Gaiman's work. Lindo will still get the chance to lend his own sensibilities to the character, though, as Anansi Boys is said to share no connection to American Gods.
Lindo has had a long career dating back to the 1970s and gaining momentum in the '90s after he appeared in Spike Lee's Malcolm X. He continued with roles in Get Shorty, The Cider House Rules, and Gone in 60 Seconds. Recently, he has appeared in the TV series The Good Fight and received numerous accolades for his performance in another Lee film, Da 5 Bloods. Anansi Boys doesn't yet have a release date, but with the addition of Lindo, the cast looks to be in exquisite company. Hopefully more information about the upcoming show will be revealed soon.
