A FISH and chip shop has been battered — for serving salad with its fried grub.
The owners say the healthy side portion of lettuce, cucumber, tomato and red onion is a hit with most customers.
Husband and wife Alexander Povalyaev and Natalia Sidorova, who run Archie’s chippy in Ramsgate, Kent, even uploaded a video of the meal online.
Their TikTok clip has already racked up more than three million views and 100,000 likes.
But some viewers were less than impressed by seeing the fresh vegetables with the traditional favourite.
One commented: “Is anyone going to mention it? Who has salad with fish and chips?”
There were also complaints that salad could be seen falling into the deep fat fryer in the footage of the meal being dished up, with one user asking: “Fried lettuce anyone?”

However, others defended the chip shop, arguing the benefits of having salad with the meal.
One wrote: “Literally I have salad with anything. Healthy, tastes nice and goes with many things including this.”
Another added: “Salad with fish and chips all the time it’s awesome.”
Co-owner Natalia said: “Most of our customers prefer salad with fish and chips.
“Anyways, customers can decide if they would like to eat it with salad.”
