Celebrity Big Brother: How Much Money The Celebs Get Paid To Be On CBB
Find out how much money the famous contestants are paid to join the Celebrity Big Brother cast. This is how much they're paid just to show up on CBB.
Now that the full Celebrity Big Brother 3 cast has been announced, fans are curious to find out how much money each of these famous houseguests will get paid just for being on the show. It has been three years since fans last watched Celebrity Big Brother on CBS. After greenlighting CBB1 in 2018 and CBB2 in 2019, viewers expected that season 3 would happen in 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, producers didn't feel comfortable producing CBB3 that year.
Despite producing Big Brother 22: All-Stars in 2020 and Big Brother 23 in 2021, the network stayed mum in relation to Celebrity Big Brother season 3. Fortunately, CBS eventually confirmed CBB3 for 2022 and a full cast of 11 famous houseguests has been announced: Carson Kressley, Chris Kattan, Chris Kirkpatrick, Cynthia Bailey, Lamar Odom, Miesha Tate, Mirai Nagasu, Shanna Moakler, Teddi Mellencamp, Todd Bridges, Todrick Hall. With the announcement of this official cast, fans want to find out how much money these Celebrity Big Brother stars will make.
According to TMZ, the amount of money that each contestant gets paid on Celebrity Big Brother is a reported $100,000 just for walking inside the house. The publication claims that all celebrities are paid the exact same amount, no matter how famous they are. This salary was reported in relation to the contestants that were cast on Celebrity Big Brother season 2. Given how high this salary already is - and the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic involves additional costs - one could expect that the CBB3 will be paid the same amount in 2022. If a contestant goes on to win Celebrity Big Brother, then that person will win the grand prize of $250,000.
The fact that Celebrity Big Brother players are paid as much as $100,000 just to walk into the house is astounding given how many reality competition shows have a grand prize of $100,000 set for the winner(s). For example, reality shows such as The Circle, Too Hot To Handle, RuPaul's Drag Race, The Voice, Love Island USA, and America's Next Top Model only reward the winner of a respective season with a grand prize of $100,000. In turn, CBB3 houseguests get paid that amount of money just for accepting to be on the show. Given that CBB is filmed over the course of four weeks, that's a lot of money for a month's worth of work.
To put this amount into perspective, however, the US edition of Celebrity Big Brother does pay its contestants significantly less than the Celebrity Big Brother UK series. TMZ reported that Ray J was paid $1 million to be on CBBUK. In turn, Heidi and Spencer Pratt were paid as much as $750,000 to show up on CBBUK (via TMZ). In any case, making $100,000 just to show up on Celebrity Big Brother is a lot of money anyway.
