Shooting on I-70 near Downtown Columbus leaves one in critical condition
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- One person is hospitalized and an eastbound swath of Interstate 70 was closed for hours Friday after a shooting near Downtown.
Just after noon, Columbus police responded to reports of shots fired on I-70 eastbound near the exit ramps to Bexley and Main Street, according to police dispatchers.
A detective at the scene said the shooting took place somewhere along I-70, where one man was shot, while two others in the car, a woman and two children, escaped without injury. Police are looking for a red sedan and the detective said it's possible the shooting was a road-rage incident.
Medics transported the man to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He is expected to recover. I-70 eastbound was closed from I-71 in downtown Columbus to Alum Creek Drive but had reopened as of 3 p.m.
