Injury Scare For Rohit Sharma? Mumbai Indians Skipper Leaves Field During Qualifier 2 Vs Gujarat Titans
Rohit Sharma will lead India in the WTC 2023 final against Australia next month in London.
New Delhi: Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma injured his left thumb while attempting a catch off Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya during their IPL 2023 playoffs at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday in Ahmedabad.
Rohit left the field and was seen icing his left hand, particularly on the thumb.
Suryakumar Yadav is leading the side in Rohit’s absence. Meanwhile, Rohit’s injury didn’t seem a serious one as he came out to bat during Mumbai Indians chase. He didn’t last long as Mohammed Shami dismissed him for just eight runs.
Meanwhile, Rohit is not just the only injury scare that Mumbai Indians suffered on Friday as his teammates Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green received nasty blows during the innings. Kishan suffered a freak injury as he collided with his Mumbai Indians teammate Chris Jordan.
Kishan was seen holding the left side of his forehead while walking off the field and did not return to bat in Mumbai’s chase against Gujarat Titans. Vishnu Vinod was named as the concussion sub for Kishan. Green, on the other hand, was hit on the left elbow by a sharp delivery from Hardik Pandya in the second over of Mumbai’s innings.
The Australian all-rounder, however, came out to bat in the sixth over after the fall of Tilak Verma. Green is important to Australia’s chances in the WTC final because of his all-round abilities. The WTC final will be played at The Oval in London from June 7.
