Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has admitted that he is pleased to be back on the pitch having returned to action against Manchester United earlier this evening.
The Dutch international has been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury against Chelsea and returned to the heart of the Spurs defence at Old Trafford alongside Cristian Romero who was captaining the side in the absence of Heung-min Son.
Some Spurs fans had their hearts in their mouths late on during the 2-2 draw when van de Ven went to ground and appeared to signal to the bench, however, it only turned out to be a touch of cramp in his calf given the intensity of the match and the lack of match action in recent weeks
Van de ven admits he had cramp late on against Manchester United
He told Sky Sports Premier League (14/1/24 – 18:40): “I think we played a good game, we had a lot of the ball. Man United are dangerous on the counter attacks. I think it was a good game from our side.
“It’s great to be back and I enjoyed it. I had cramp at the end. It was just cramp and the cold. You saw the intensity of the game. I didn’t play for two and a half months.
“We have to be aware of the counter attack. We knew they would wait for our mistakes because we want to play.”

It is great to have van de Ven back in the side and his pace certainly got Tottenham out of jail on a couple of occasions in the second half. Hamstring injuries are always a difficult on to return from, especially when fatigued late in a match and the backroom staff did the right thing in bringing him off in place of Emerson Royal in the final few minutes.
