Virginia man pleads guilty to bank robbery conspiracy
Brian Tierney, 30, of Lynchburg, Virginia pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiring to commit a bank robbery.
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Brian Tierney, 30, of Lynchburg, Virginia pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiring to commit a bank robbery. According to the United States Department of Justice, he agreed and planned to commit an armed bank robbery at a bank in Johnstown.
Tierney allegedly had two co-conspirators, Michael Brown, and Luke Kenna. Brown pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank robbery in June and Kenna pleaded guilty to the following charges in August:
- Conspiracy to commit bank robbery
- Possession of a firearm as a prohibited person
Kenna and Brown allegedly conducted surveillance of the bank and Kenna allegedly purchased weapons and other items to commit the robbery. Tierney allegedly ordered handgun parts and sent pictures of a handgun and a radio scanning and jamming divide to use in the robbery.
Sentencing for Kenna and Brown is scheduled for June 14. Tierney's sentencing is scheduled for August 16. He is facing a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a post-imprisonment term of up to 3 years supervised release.
