CT woman allegedly yells antisemitic comments at Jewish Community Center, flees police
Police found that she had previously been issued a no trespass warning at the Jewish Community Center in connection with a prior arrest.
A woman was forcibly taken into custody this week after she allegedly yelled antisemitic comments at the Jewish Community Center and then failed to stop multiple times when police tried to pull her over.
Beth Rosenberg, 42, of West Hartford was taken into custody and held on $50,000 bond, according to the West Hartford Police Department.
She faces three counts each of engaging police in pursuit and interfering with police/resisting, two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, failure to drive in the proper lane and reckless driving and a single count each of third-degree intimidation based on bias or bigotry, second-degree violation of conditions of release, second-degree breach of peace and first-degree criminal trespassing, police said.
Officers at 2:30 p.m. were called to the Jewish Community Center, located at 335 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford, on the report of a woman yelling “anti-semitic/racist remarks” in the parking lot and in the building, West Hartford Capt. Daniel Moffo said in a statement.
The woman, who was later identified as Rosenberg, was spotted driving nearby at the New England Jewish Academy, at 300 Bloomfield Ave., and did not stop when officers signaled her to, according to Moffo. She was located in her vehicle two more times and, each time, did not stop when an officer instructed her to do so, police said.
Officers located Rosenberg in her vehicle once more just before 5:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the West Hartford United Methodist Church, at 1358 New Britain Ave.
Moffo said Rosenberg had to be forcibly removed from her vehicle and taken into custody.
No one was injured during the incident, according to Moffo.
Moffo said Rosenberg was later taken to an area hospital for evaluation. Police found that she had previously been issued a no trespass warning at the Jewish Community Center in connection with a prior arrest.
Rosenberg was expected to be arraigned on Friday at Superior Court in Hartford.
