New Cameron Scoreboard On The Way!
One of the biggest upgrades in Cameron in a good long while
Well this should be fun: Duke is updating the scoreboard in Cameron with a brand new Jumbotron.
This description is from GoDuke.com: “The three-display configuration of the centerhung features three seamless displays wrapping around the structure. The main video display measures approximately 11.5 feet high by 59 feet around while the lower ring measures 2.5 feet high by 52.5 feet around. On the underbelly, catering to fans sitting closer to the action, a ring display measures 2.5 feet high by 39.5 feet around.
“Combined, the new centerhung system will feature 900 square feet of digital canvas, more than double the previous centerhung total of 436 square feet. With the improved resolution from 10-millimeter to 3.9-millimeter pixel spacing, the centerhung will now feature approximately 5.5 million pixels compared to the previous 415,000 pixels.
“The main display is capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image facing each direction of the arena as well as being divided into multiple zones to show any combination of digital content. This could be live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, or sponsorship messages.”
It sounds like a big upgrade. One wonders whether it could be low enough to conceivably be hit by a long pass - think Hill to Laettner in ‘92 for instance.
But regardless of that, it’s going to be interesting to see what they do with it. The updated graphics will be fun for the folks who run it to mess around with.
There will also be four new ribbon displays in the corners, two LED tables and 11 press table displays. Not quite clear how that last part is going to work yet.
There’s more in the article. We can’t wait to see how this all works out.
