The European Union’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid department has announced that it has sent 97 tons of medical equipment and other vital supplies to 13 relief organizations in Kabul.
The agency stated on Sunday, May 12, that these supplies were transported to Kabul on a new flight via the ‘Humanitarian Air Bridge’.
The statement mentioned that ‘while our partners are responding to recent floods in Afghanistan, the European Union’s Humanitarian Air Bridge to the country has been resumed.’
The European Union’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid department emphasized that since the year 2021, more than 1,600 tons of aid have been sent to Afghanistan through 35 humanitarian flights.
This comes as devastating floods in various provinces of the country have led to human casualties and substantial financial damages.
According to reports, more than 300 people have died in the province of Baghlan alone due to recent floods.
Previously, the World Food Programme had also warned that vehicle access to most of the affected areas in Baghlan is impossible.
