ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Office of General Services announced that Bruce Hornsby and The Noisemakers will headline the 48th annual New York State Fourth of July celebration. The yearly event is held at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.
Best known for his songs "The Way It Is," "Mandolin Rain," and "The Valley Road," Hornsby has earned three Grammy Awards and 13 total nominations across his career. His music combines elements of jazz, pop and folk rock.
Hornsby makes his return to the Capital Region after performing at the Troy Music Hall in 2023. The celebration, presented by the NYSOGS and Price Chopper/Market 32, will also feature the yearly fireworks show, as well as a variety of food and drink vendors.
"The OGS team is looking forward to hosting another amazing New York State Fourth of July Celebration at the Empire State Plaza with the support of our generous and longtime sponsor, Price Chopper/Market 32," OGS Commissioner Jeanette Moy said. "The Plaza is a wonderful place to gather with family and friends on Independence Day, and we invite everyone to join us for an evening full of family-friendly activities, a naturalization ceremony, and a special performance by Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers. All that fun and great music lead up to a spectacular fireworks display that’s not to be missed."
Price Chopper/Market 32 president Blaine Bringhurst said "Price Chopper/Market 32 is proud of our 48-year tradition of celebrating our nation’s independence at the New York State 4th of July celebration. We’re especially thrilled to present the fabulous fireworks display, and look forward to gathering with family and friends, enjoying good food and entertainment, and honoring all who have served."
The celebration is free to attend and open to the public. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
