I’m a trichologist – the best ingredients to promote hair growth, plus others that reduce frizz and split ends

Having gained a loyal following with their serum which makes lashes visibly longer and brows fuller, they have recently debuted a hair growth serum.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun Gaboardi listed various ingredients to look out for when buying haircare products.
LONG LOCKS
Gaboardi revealed four natural solutions for stimulating growth and improving hair health.
“Biotin, vitamin B7, is known for its role in promoting hair growth and maintaining healthy hair,” she said.
“It helps strengthen the hair shaft and may help prevent hair breakage and thinning.
“Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect the hair and scalp from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.
“It can help nourish the hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth.
“Coconut oil has moisturizing and conditioning properties that can help strengthen the hair, reduce protein loss, and prevent damage.
“It can also soothe the scalp and promote growth.
“Tea tree oil has antibacterial and antifungal properties that can help maintain a healthy scalp and prevent dandruff and scalp infections.
“It can also help unclog hair follicles and stimulate hair growth.”
SCALP SAVIOR
Gaboardi shared two ingredients that are best for keeping the scalp healthy.
“Niacinamide, vitamin B3, can improve the overall health of the scalp by promoting circulation and reducing inflammation,” she said.
“It may help support healthy hair growth and prevent hair loss.

“Argan oil is rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and fatty acids that can nourish and moisturize the hair and scalp.
It helps improve the hair’s elasticity, reduce frizz, and add shine.”
HAIR HEROES
Gaboardi recommended two other ingredients that can improve overall hair health.
“Panthenol, provitamin B5, is a humectant that attracts moisture to the hair, helping to keep it hydrated and soft,” she said.
“It can also improve the hair’s elasticity and resilience, reducing breakage and split ends.
“Peptides are amino acid chains that can penetrate the hair shaft and strengthen the hair from within.
“They can help improve the overall health and appearance of the hair, making it look thicker and more resilient.”
What are the common causes of hair loss?
Hannah Gaboardi is a trichologist and UKLASH Ambassador.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she revealed the most common causes of hair loss:
“Genetics (Androgenetic alopecia): Hereditary hair loss, also known as male-pattern or female-pattern baldness, is the most common cause of hair loss.
“It typically follows a predictable pattern of hair thinning or baldness determined by genetics.
“Hormonal changes: Hormonal imbalances due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, thyroid disorders, or conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can contribute to hair loss.
“Androgen hormones, such as dihydrotestosterone (DHT), can also play a role in hair loss in both men and women.
“Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions can cause hair loss, including alopecia areata (an autoimmune disorder that causes patchy hair loss), thyroid disorders, scalp infections (such as ringworm), and chronic illnesses like lupus or diabetes.
“Stress and trauma: Physical or emotional stress, surgery, or traumatic events can lead to a type of hair loss called telogen effluvium, where a large number of hairs prematurely enter the resting phase of the hair growth cycle and eventually shed.
“Nutritional deficiencies: Inadequate intake of essential nutrients like vitamins (particularly B vitamins), minerals (such as iron and zinc), and protein can impact hair health and contribute to hair loss.
“Medications and treatments: Certain medications, such as chemotherapy drugs, anticoagulants, beta-blockers, and retinoids can cause hair loss as a side effect.
“Additionally, treatments like radiation therapy and some forms of birth control may also lead to hair loss.
“Overstyling and harsh treatments: Excessive use of heat styling tools (such as blow dryers, curling irons, or flat irons), chemical treatments (like bleaching, perming, or coloring), and tight hairstyles (such as braids or ponytails) can damage the hair shaft and lead to breakage and hair loss.
“Age: As we age, the rate of hair growth slows down, and hair follicles may become finer, resulting in thinner-looking hair.
“Additionally, aging can affect the health of the scalp and hair follicles.”
