Summer-like heat fades around Oregon, Washington Thursday
Wednesday's summer-like heat fades to seasonal conditions around Portland on Thursday afternoon.
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Wednesday's summer-like heat fades to seasonal conditions around Portland on Thursday afternoon.
Temperatures will sit nearly 10 degrees cooler than Wednesday's high, which was in the low 80s. The mild and sunny weather will keep the Portland-Vancouver metro area near average through the end of the week. Thursday will be pleasant across the region with plenty of sun breaks and highs in the low 70s.
The dry and mild weather will continue to melt mountain snow. Ski resorts have lost several inches of powder over the past week. Melting snow will keep river temperatures dangerously cold for the next month or so.
The air temperature around the Pacific Northwest will start to stabilize this weekend and into next week. That's where temperatures will sit closer to the average in the mid to upper 60s.
A few light rain showers or sprinkles are possible over the next five days. But showers will be isolated and on the lighter side of things as we head into the weekend. A drier weather pattern continues to dominate across the Pacific Northwest at this point in May.
