Ladakh Lok Sabha Polls 2024: Triangular fight with surprise entry of an Independent from Kargil
The upcoming Lok Sabha election in Ladakh features a three-way battle between the BJP, Congress, and an independent candidate. BJP's Tashi Gyalson, also the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council's chief executive councillor, faces Congress' Tsering Namgyal and independent candidate Mohammad Haneefa Jan. With NC rebels and alliances influencing the race, the region's statehood and Sixth Schedule implementation are key issues. Ladakh's 1,84,803 voters, split between Leh and Kargil, will decide the outcome on May 20.
