Grasso’s Garage: 2024 Mercedes CLA Coupe delivers style for consumers
Mercedes Benz is back in Grasso’s Garage with their entry level coupe, utilizing the CLA nameplate. As an upscale luxury brand, Mercedes Benz is known for their exquisite luxury and styling delivered to the end user. Our CLA Coupe, which actually had 4-doors but the coupe-like shape curvatures classified them accordingly.
Powered by the potent AMG enhanced 2.0L inline 4-turbo engine with hybrid assist, the CLA certainly has no issue getting up and going with 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Paired with the AMG Speedshift DCT 8-speed transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and a great sounding exhaust, the CLA35 was fun and rightly priced.
Utilizing a AMG sport suspension, performance steering wheel and drive unit button options, the CLA35 4MATIC was comfortable, low to the ground and provided exactly what any coupe owner could want; luxury, design and performance. Wrapped in Mountain Grey Metallic with a black leather interior, the CLA35 AMG was overall a good looking vehicle and rightly priced. Standard on the CLA35 AMG was a Panorama roof, 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25 inch touchscreen display, center console volume scroll, while AMG twin 5-spoke wheels, driver assistance package, AMG Night package and Exclusive Trim options added an extra $5,400.
As a 2009 Mercedes Benz C350 sedan owner myself in the past, Mercedes has a great footprint of luxury and design. While leading the way in the luxury category over fierce competitors, like BMW, Lexus and Genesis, Mercedes certainly has done a good job in keeping the CLA35 AMG in the fleet with the correct updates it deserved for future existence in the fleet. Although low production numbers nearing the 10K range in prior years, the CLA is here to stay and for good reason.
