Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Jeremy made it clear that his injury is still on his mind.
“I relive it every night. It’s in my visions. It’s in my dreams and my waking thoughts,” he admitted.
Jeremy broke 38 bones in the injury, and he said that it cost “a lot of dough” to pay for some of the medical procedures that he underwent, despite having health insurance.
“But what do I care,” he said about the large bills. “I’m alive. I’m walking through life with a smile on my face. And there’s nothing that’s ever going to change that. Nothing. It’s impossible for me to have a bad day.”
The actor even displayed a sense of humor, joking about one specific bone that he broke: “The doctor said I even broke my taint. How do you break a taint?”
About the accident, Jeremy said that he didn’t immediately realize the extent of his injuries. After the reality set in, he recalls thinking that he was going to die while receiving treatment.
He credited his family for giving him the strength to recover and return to work so quickly.
Jeremy was back to Mayor of Kingstown “on the anniversary of my death.”
His return was incredibly challenging for him, and he said that he took on more than he could handle at first.
“They go, ‘And action!’ And I was out [asleep],” he recalled. “We realized they worked me too hard, too many hours, too many days in a row. What I’m willing to do is everything, but what I’m able to do is a different thing.”
To manage things, Jeremy joked that he was treated “like I’m a child actor.” He stayed in Pittsburgh throughout filming instead of flying home to California during his down time and fit in time to continue rehabilitating himself.
His hard work paid off and season three of the show premieres in just a few weeks. Check out the first trailer!
If you missed it, Jeremy recently said that one of his Marvel costars was so supportive during his recovery that it was like they “were dating.”
