Shocking moment cop ‘punches & pushes’ disabled man in wheelchair after he was ‘spat at’ – as urgent probe launched
THIS is the shocking moment a cop “punches and pushes” a man in a wheelchair after he was allegedly spat at.
Footage shows the officer landing around half a dozen blows into the one-legged man during Monday’s horror bust up.
After a flurry of punches the policeman pushes the man across the pavement and up against a wall in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Witnesses said the man was in the middle of St Peters Road and holding a bottle of booze when the cop arrived, EDP reports.
They claim he moved as if he was about to get up before the officer took the bottle and started attacking him.
Norfolk Police are investigating the incident which they say was sparked after the officer was spat at and threatened with a broken bottle.
Diari Salih claims the wheelchair user was pepper sprayed and when he saw what was happening he told the officer to stop.
Mr Salih, who runs a nearby barbers, added: “Nobody’s happy about this. I can’t get the image out of my head.”
The man, in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and assaulting an emergency worker.
Chief Inspector Matt Dyson, the local policing commander, said: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media, we are carrying out a thorough investigation of the circumstances including a review of the officer’s body worn video.
“We recognise the public concern around the level of force used in this incident and this will form part of our investigation.”
