Texas landed a commitment from Saint Mary’s transfer Mikey Lewis on Thursday.
The 6-foot-3 Oakland native averaged 13.9 points last season while draining 68 3-pointers on 37% shooting from deep.
He went for 31 points and made seven 3-pointers when Saint Mary’s beat Gonzaga, 70-59, on Feb. 28.
A four-star prospect in the Class of 2024 out of Prolific Prep (CA), Lewis initially chose the Gaels over Illinois and Ole Miss, among several others.
“Mikey is a phenomenal scorer and high-level playmaker,” Prolific Prep head coach Ryan Bernardi said then. “His character and emotional consistency has him ready for high-level basketball
Lewis played AAU with the Oakland Soldiers (Nike – EYBL) throughout high school, averaging 18.1 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 37.8% from the 3-point line.
Lewis joins a portal class for Sean Miller that includes TCU transfer forward David Punch, Colorado transfer point guard Isaiah Johnson, Auburn transfer wing Elyjah Freeman and Tennessee transfer shooting guard Amari Evans. The Longhorns also return center Matas Vokietaitis (15.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and bring in five-star guard Austin Goosby and two other top-100 recruits.
