Why We Love This Deal
This time of year, it’s common to feel the slightest touch of cold but not have the right layering, and that’s why shoppers flock to ultralight jackets, which provide the right level of warmth to keep out the chill without causing you to overheat. If you haven’t experienced what a premium lightweight jacket can do for you, now is the time to try one, as REI is selling one of the best from Kuhl at almost $100 off.
The Kuhl AeroLight Insulated Jacket is selling for $150 right now after a rare discount of nearly 40% off. For context, Kuhl does not host sales on its site, so REI is really the best place to score a deal on the brand's gear. Though Kuhl may be best known for its editor-approved hiking pants, its efforts to master the technical light jacket market are an easy second place. From temperature-regulating jackets to wind and rain-stopping layers, Kuhl’s got some things figured out.

What Shoppers Should Know
- Sizes Available: From small to 2XL
- Color Options: 5, though only Kanteen is on sale
- Fabric: 72% nylon, 28% spandex
- Insulation: 60g polyester
- Best Use Case: This jacket is made to get the chill off on slightly chilly days, while never compromising on breathability or stretch.
REI’s blurb for this product says “this Kuhl jacket has synthetic insulation for just-right warmth,” but that sort of undercuts it. It’s actually insulated with a 60g polyester stretch, which has a remarkable ability to both bend itself and get back into its original shape when de-stressed. This, combined with the nylon and high-Spandex fabric blend of the shell, really gives you some acrobat-tier dexterity.
Now, speaking of that fabric blend, it’s officially referred to as “Kuhl Air Fabric,” and it is highly breathable. This, the gusseted underarms, and the full-length zipper are going to make adjusting to the current weather easy and intuitive.
Finally, let’s look at the price. At $150, following the discount, this is neither Kuhl’s most expensive jacket nor its least. So, what else might you shop for? For a bit more, you can hit the $175 Saboteur Hoody, which gives you wind and water protection but less warmth. For a bit less, you can hit the Driftr Full-Zip Jacket at $129, which provides water and UPF protection. Neither of those, however, is made for the swingy temps we’re seeing throughout the country today.

What Shoppers Are Saying
One user called this the most comfortable jacket they’d ever worn, before describing it thoroughly: “Very cozy and warm, almost a squishy stretchy fabric/feeling… hard to describe, but it looks sharp and feels like you’re being hugged.”
One thing we sort of glossed over is that this jacket is also designed to be a mid-layer in addition to an outer layer. That’s one reason why it lacks a hood, for example. It’s just not necessarily what you need right now, as the jacket has enough power to help for mild April/May weather. But one shopper did test it out with another Kuhl jacket and reported back, “Worn under The One jacket, it is a powerful combo. Love the pairing.” Remember this when winter inevitably comes again.
