Netflix Has Made A Decision About Stranger Things: Tales From '85 Season 2
Netflix has confirmed the fate of its animated Stranger Things spin-off.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 premiered on the streaming platform earlier this month, with the “midquel” taking inspiration from the Saturday morning cartoons of our youth.
On Tuesday evening, it was announced that the sci-fi saga would be continuing with a second season of animated adventures.
And what’s more, fans don’t have too long to wait, either, with the new instalments set to premiere on Netflix in the autumn.
Take a look at the announcement video for yourself below:
Tales From ’85 reintroduced the characters we already know and love from Stranger Things with a new cast of actors lending their voices to them in the new adventures.
It also welcomed a new character to the gang in Nikki, played by I Love LA and Marty Supreme star Odessa A’zion.
Set between the events of seasons two and three of the original show, an official synopsis from Netflix read: “In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading.
“Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely?”
Tales From ’85 received a somewhat muted reaction from critics upon its debut, with the most scathing reviews describing it as a “cynical retread” of what’s already come before it in the franchise, while more positive assessments praised its escapism and the new additions to the show’s in-universe.
While Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers have ruled out a return for the main show, they have previously teased that other, live-action spin-offs are currently in the pipeline.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is now streaming on Netflix.
