Fire in the Zhetysu mountains is being extinguished from the air - video
According to the ministry, the work is being hampered by difficult relief and the inaccessibility of certain sectors. Rescuers are liquidating the remaining hotspots and preventing the fire from spreading further.
The firefighting operation involves 52 personnel and 11 pieces of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the forestry service, and local executive bodies. Aviation from the National Security Committee (KNB) Border Service and "Kazaviaspas" of the MES has also been deployed to the mountainous area.

A total of 11 water drops, amounting to 33 tons, have already been carried out from the air.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there is no threat to populated areas. The situation remains under the department's control.
Previously, steppe fires were recorded in the Shet, Aktogay, Bukhar-Zhyrau, and Karkaraly districts of the Karaganda region. To contain and extinguish the fires and protect residential areas, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local executive bodies deployed personnel and equipment. To the scene of the emergency, 620 personnel were dispatched along with 134 units of equipment.
On Wednesday, August 19, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire had been contained, successfully stopping its spread.
