Searched for over a day: missing child found in the mountains of Almaty

Tengrinews.kz — An 11-year-old boy went missing in the mountains near Almaty, close to the Ayusai Gorge, on August 30. More than 160 people searched for the child for over 24 hours. The search concluded on August 31.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the search for the boy, who disappeared while walking with his parents, was conducted at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters.
An operational headquarters was established at the site.
"Approximately 160 people were involved in the search, including staff from the Department of Emergency Situations (DES), rescuers from the monitoring and rapid response center, 'Barys' rescuers, police officers, rangers from the Medeu forestry district, DSS volunteers, military personnel, the Border Service of the National Security Committee, the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other agencies," the department stated.
K-9 units, drones, and aircraft from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' "Kazaviaspas" were also deployed in the search for the child.

"The search was conducted simultaneously by ground teams and from the air. Over six kilometers of the Ayusai Gorge and the Bolshaya Almatinka riverbed were surveyed on foot, using drones, and with a K-9 unit. A helicopter performed flyovers of the search zone," the DES reported regarding the operation.

The child was eventually located by a joint team of rescuers and volunteers.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that the boy is alive and has been returned to his parents. According to officials, the child did not require medical assistance.
