From +27 to snow: what the weather will be like in Astana and Almaty in the next 10 days

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet meteorologists have released the 10-day weather forecast for Astana and Almaty. Residents of Kazakhstan's two largest cities should prepare for rain, strong winds, a sharp cold snap, and snow, though temperatures are expected to rise again later.

Astana: Autumn makes a sharp entrance

The first days of October in the capital will remain relatively warm. October 1:Rain is expected, with daytime temperatures reaching +16…+18°C. Winds will strengthen to 15–18 meters per second.

On October 2 and 3, the rain will continue, with highs of +15…+18°C. Wind gusts may reach 20 meters per second.

On October 4, it will turn noticeably cooler, with temperatures dropping to +11…+13°C and wind gusts intensifying to 23 meters per second.

On October 5, Astana is expected to see mixed precipitation of rain and snow. Temperatures will hover at just +3…+5°C throughout the day, while westerly and northwesterly gusts will reach 17–22 meters per second.

October 6 will be the coldest and windiest day of the period. Overnight temperatures will drop to -1…-3°C, with daytime highs of only +6…+8°C. Forecasters predict snow, low-level snowstorms, and icy conditions. Northwesterly gusts could reach 23–28 meters per second.

By October 7, the precipitation will subside, though fog and black ice are possible in the night and morning hours. Lows of -3°C are expected overnight.

On October 8, daytime temperatures will recover to +11…+13°C, and by October 9 and 10, they will rise further to +15…+17°C.

A warm start for Almaty

In Almaty, the first days of October will be quite different. October 1:The air will warm up to +24…+26°C. Short-term rain and thunderstorms are possible in the evening.

October 2Temperatures will dip slightly to +19…+21°C, with rain expected overnight and in the morning. However, by October 3it will warm up again to +23…+25°C.

On October 4, Almaty will experience a peak in heat with highs of +27°C. However, this will be accompanied by severe weather: rain, thunderstorms, hail, and squalls are forecasted for the afternoon. Wind gusts may reach 15–20 meters per second.

On October 5, rain is expected, heavy at times, with daytime highs dropping to +13…+15°C.

October 6 will turn even cooler, at +11…+13°C. Precipitation remains possible, primarily in the form of rain.
