Frost, snow and temperatures up to +23°C: what November will be like in Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet forecasters have released an advisory weather outlook for the final month of autumn. November 2026 in Kazakhstan is expected to be around 2°C warmer than the climatic norm. At the same time, several regions are forecast to receive more precipitation than usual.
What November will be like in Kazakhstan
According to Kazhydromet, the average monthly air temperature in November is expected to be 2°C above normal across Kazakhstan.
In most of the country, as well as in the mountainous areas of the southeast, the average monthly temperature will range from 0°C to -5°C. Warmer conditions are expected in southern and southwestern regions, with temperatures ranging from +1°C to +9°C.
Precipitation is forecast to be near normal across most of Kazakhstan. However, above-normal precipitation is expected in North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan regions, across most of Pavlodar, Kostanay and Akmola regions, in the northern half of West Kazakhstan Region and in the north of Aktobe Region.
More precipitation than usual is also forecast in the southeastern half of Almaty Region and Zhetysu Region, as well as in the northeast and southeast of Abai Region.
What November will be like in Astana
In Astana, the average monthly temperature in November is expected to be -3.6°C. This is 1.6°C above the climatic norm of -5.2°C.
At the beginning of the month, temperatures will initially rise: from -3…+2°C to 0…+5°C at night and from 0…+5°C to +7…+12°C during the day. A cold snap is then expected, with nighttime temperatures falling to -4…-9°C and daytime temperatures to 0…-5°C. Toward the end of the first ten-day period, it will become warmer again, with nighttime temperatures rising to 0…-5°C and daytime temperatures to +3…+8°C.
During the second ten-day period, temperatures will fluctuate. Nighttime temperatures are expected to range from 0…-5°C to -7…-12°C, while daytime temperatures will range from 0…+5°C to -1…-6°C.
Temperature fluctuations are also forecast during the third ten-day period. By the end of the month, nighttime temperatures are expected to fall to -10…-15°C and daytime temperatures to -3…-8°C.
Precipitation in the capital is expected to be near the monthly norm of 29 millimeters. Rain and wet snow are possible at the beginning of the month, while snow and blizzards are forecast in the middle and at the end of the first ten-day period, as well as at the beginning of the second and third ten-day periods. Fog, icy conditions and stronger winds with gusts of 15–20 meters per second are also possible on some days.
What Almaty residents should prepare for
In Almaty, the average monthly temperature in November is expected to be +5.4°C. This is 2.5°C above the climatic norm of +2.9°C.
At the beginning of the month, temperatures are expected to rise from 0…+5°C to +5…+10°C at night and from +13…+18°C to +18…+23°C during the day. It will then become cooler, with nighttime temperatures falling to -3…+2°C and daytime temperatures to +2…+7°C.
Another cold spell is forecast in the middle of the second ten-day period. Nighttime temperatures may fall to -3…-8°C and daytime temperatures to -3…+2°C. This will be followed by warmer weather, with nighttime temperatures rising to -3…+2°C and daytime temperatures to +11…+16°C.
Another cold snap is expected at the beginning of the third ten-day period, with nighttime temperatures falling to -3…-8°C and daytime temperatures to 0…+5°C. By the end of the month, temperatures are expected to rise again to -3…+2°C at night and +10…+15°C during the day.
Almaty is expected to receive above-normal precipitation compared with the monthly average of 55 millimeters. Rain and snow are possible throughout the month, along with fog, icy conditions and stronger winds with gusts of up to 15 meters per second on some days.
