In light of the recent ethnic tension in northern Nigeria, the Bauchi commissioner of police has assured Igbo people in the state of protection from the police if things ever degenerate into violence.
Speaking on public safety among all citizens in the state, Bauchi state Command, CP Garba Baba Umar on Tuesday, June 13 met with the leadership of Igbo community in the state.
The Eze Ndigbo of Bauchi state, His Highness Eze J. Umezika commended the CP for the warm reception he accorded them and the selfless service he is exhibiting in ensuring peace and stability in the State.

Eze Umezika also said that the Igbo community in the state are law abiding citizens and will not indulge in any act that would undermine the unity and peaceful coexistence of Nigeria.
In conclusion, he assured CP Umar of their willingness to partner with the police in order to ensure that law and order are maintained.
Responding, the commissioner thanked the Igbo community and assured them that the Command under his watch was fully committed toward providing a safe and secured environment for all the citizens in the state irrespective of tribe of religious affiliation.
According to Vanguard, he also encouraged them to feel free and report any matter capable of truncating the peace in the State to enable the Command respond promptly.

Meanwhile, Acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, is set to meet with leaders from the northern and eastern part of Nigeria to resolve the crisis which has surfaced following the quit notice issued to Igbos living in the norther part of the country.

NAIJ.com learned that the media aide to the acting president, Laolu Akande, who disclosed this via Twitter said Osinbajo will first meet each group separately on different days before meeting with them at a joint gathering.
