Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette could leave for Paris St Germain, says Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas says he has no problem with selling Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette to his domestic rivals Paris St Germain.
Lacazette is set to depart Lyon this summer but his destination remains unclear. The 26-year-old had seemed set on a move to Atletico Madrid but the Spanish side’s transfer ban has forced a rethink.
Arsenal have made Lacazette their favoured option should their ambitious move for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe fall apart and would be able to match Lyon’s £60million asking price should they so wish.
However the Gunners are unlikely to be the only suitors for the French international, with Aulas claiming that should PSG match his asking price he would be willing to strengthen a fellow Ligue 1 side.
“I know [PSG chairman] Nasser [Al-Khelaifi] suggested to Noel Le Graet [French Football Federation president] that he is not investing that much in French players because he thought other presidents of French clubs looked badly upon it,” Aulas told France Football.
“I want him to know that if he makes an offer for Alexandre at least equal to that of the other clubs bidding for him, then Alex can go to Paris without problem.
“I am a businessman and a modern club president. Transfer money must be reinvested into French football, as I always did when we were at the peak of our powers.
“When transfer money is shared abroad, it strengthens our competitors instead.”
