Outlandish South African hip-hop group Die Antwoord plays SF
Die Antwoord, the outlandish hip-hop group from South Africa, has been making music for more than a decade now — still they get asked with a certain frequency if their schtick is serious. Rappers Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, who embrace a certain trash-punk aesthetic full of goth accents and abrasive lyrics and pop hooks, along with the producer God, are set to release their fifth studio album in September. They’ve also said it’ll be their last.
If that’s true, it might be worth taking them seriously and getting a ticket for their upcoming show Saturday, Sept. 2, at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, with rapper Gucci Mane.
