Bear spotted running through Vacaville neighborhood
A young California black bear peeked its nose into a residential Vacaville neighborhood Friday morning, but hopped a fence and ran back onto an open hillside when someone started tailing it in a car to capture video footage of the extremely rare occurrence.
The city’s humane animal services was called about 7:30 a.m. to Hidden Glen Court, but by the time Officer Mike Ramirez arrived, the bear was nowhere to be seen.
A video posted to Instagram showed a man pursuing the bear down the street in his vehicle, before the animal climbed a wooden fence and reached the open space.
Smells of blooming flowers and fruits — and the hunt for avocado trees, an unbearably delicious treat for cubs — likely brought the animal into the suburban street, Hughan said, adding that the creature looked to be in good health.
