Sajama is Bolivia’s oldest national park, created in 1939 in an effort to preserve the hillside forests of Queñoa trees growing in the region. The park takes up a total of 1,002 square kilometers of altiplano, or highland plain, with elevations ranging from 4,000 to 6,542 meters .
