Box Office Collection Day 1: Indian cinema has been witnessing one of the most significant conflicts between 2025's much-awaited films, Dhanush's Kuberaa and Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par. With the outstanding storyline, unique plot, emotional connection, and powerful performances, both films have shown an exceptional performance on the first day of release. Kuberaa and Sitaare Zameen Par have grabbed everyone's attention with their impressive earnings.
Talking about Kuberaa, the film hit theatres on Friday, June 20, and has received a positive response from the audiences. Multiple recordings of fans celebrating the release went viral on social media. Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, features Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna, Jum Sarbh, and others. On the first day of release, director Sekhar watched the film's FDFS with fans in Chennai.
Kuberaa is set to peak during the weekend
According to reports in Sacnilk, by 10 pm, Kuberaa has reportedly collected Rs 12.98 crore on the first day of release in India. The bookings for the evening shows have rapidly increased in Tamil Nadu and Telugu states. The theatre occupancy was 34% in the morning, which went on to increase to 42% in the afternoon. Since the film has not clashed with any other big release in the South industry, Kuberaa will reportedly earn around Rs 18-20 crores in its first weekend.
Meanwhile, Sitaare Zameen Par marks the comeback of Aamir Khan to the big screens after 3 3-year gap. After the underperformance of Laal Singh Chadha, expectations are high from the comedy drama. RS Prasanna's directed film is a spiritual sequel to the 2007 release Taare Zameen Par. It features Aamir Khan along with debutantes.
Will Sitaare Zameen Par manage to bring back Aamir's mojo at the box office?
According to reports in Sacnilk, the sports drama has shown a slow start at the box office, claiming earnings of over Rs 10 crore. Reportedly, by 10 pm, the film has earned Rs 11.50 crores.
