ArmInfo. Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in St. Petersburg. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, and Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff Igor Kostyukov participated in the meeting.
Attaching Araghchi to Russia were Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib Abadi and Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali.
Putin emphasized that Russia will support Iran and do everything in its interests to ensure peace in the region as quickly as possible. The President also said that he had received a message from Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei wishing him well.
Araghchi, in turn, thanked Moscow for its support.
In March, after the US and Israeli military operation against Iran began, Araghchi announced that Russia was supporting his country during the military conflict. When asked whether Moscow provides intelligence, the minister replied, "They help us in many ways."
On April 24, Jalali stated that Iran had made exceptions for several countries, including Russia, regarding the tariffs for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. (Vedomosti)
