Emmanuel Macron in Gyumri: Don`t forget, France loves you!
ArmInfo. No one has forgotten December 1988—a time when the clocks stopped and an entire city was petrified; a time when the whole world stood up to come to your aid, Armenia.
French President Emmanuel Macron shared these words during his visit to Gyumri, as he greeted residents at the "Musical Bridge: Armenia-France" concert at Vardanants Square. Recalling that period, he noted that when Charles Aznavour sang, France united—over 500 firefighters, soldiers, and sappers arrived to help. "Gyumri managed to revive after the hell of that winter. New springs have come. We know the hardships you have endured in recent years. And as long as Gyumri exists, Armenia continues to move forward toward peace and stability together with Europe.
And just as we were together in December 1988, so we will be today. Thank you, Gyumri! Thank you, Armenia! Don't forget, France loves you! Long live Armenia, long live France, and long live Gyumri!" Macron said, bidding farewell to the people of Gyumri.
It should be noted that the concert "Musical Bridge: Armenia - France," dedicated to the friendship between the two countries and the deepening of cultural cooperation in Gyumri, was the final event of the French President's visit to Armenia. It was announced that Emmanuel Macron will head to the airport from Gyumri.
