According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, During the ceremony, the Russian Ambassador emphasized the indispensable role played by women during the conflict. "Soviet women, alongside men, made an invaluable contribution to the victory over Nazism," Ambassador Kopyrkin noted. "Their unprecedented heroism has become an enduring symbol of resilience, loyalty to duty, and boundless love for the Motherland."
In turn, Charge d'Affaires of Belarus in Armenia, Inessa Kudruk, noted that the 81st anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War is an example of national unity, when everyone remembers not only the true heroism but also the immeasurable price paid by nations for freedom from the "brown plague."
Recall, approximately 600,000 Armenians participated in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45, with 300,000 sons of the Armenian people not returning home from the front. The Armenian people rank fourth among the peoples of the USSR in terms of the number of generals and officers, and sixth in terms of the number of Heroes of the Soviet Union. During the war, 70,000 Armenians were awarded orders and medals[59] (including more than 500 doctors), 106 Armenians and 11 representatives of other nationalities from the Armenian SSR received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union (Ivan Baghramyan and Nelson Stepanyan - twice), 68 Armenian generals commanded various military units on all fronts of the Great Patriotic War, and 27 individuals became Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory of all three degrees.
