Manchester United win the FA Cup: Our favourite pictures from the 2016 Final
Manchester United won the 2016 FA Cup after a tense final went the distance at Wembley.
Following a goalless first half, goals from Jason Puncheon and Juan Mata sparked the game into life, before substitute Jesse Lingard scored an extra-time winner to break the hearts of the Crystal Palace fans.
Puncheon, on from the bench, had looked to hand Pardew his first FA Cup triumph in three attempts, having missed out on the Cup as West Ham boss in 2006, and as a player with Palace back in 1990.
But alas, he would once again be denied by Manchester United, who themselves went on to win the Cup for twelfth time in their history.
It would be Wayne Rooney’s first trophy as captain and, alongside Michael Carrick, the veteran pair hosted the FA Cup aloft for the first time in their careers.
