British shorthairs, terriers, huskies and sphinxеs: who has had vet appointments made for them via mos.ru and the ‘Gosuslugi Moskvy’ mobile app?
Pet Day is celebrated around the world on 30th November. In Moscow, a new service called ‘Vet Appointment’ has been created, enabling pet owners to arrange appointments online with state veterinary clinics in Moscow or to call out a vet at any convenient time.
The service can be used to make appointments for absolutely any kind of animal. Moscow’s Department of Information Technology (DIT) has spoken about what pets the service is most frequently used for and the reasons for their appointments. “The statistics show that there is a demand for this service amongst cat and dog owners. In one year, the mos.ru portal has been used to make over 51,000 appointments in veterinary clinics, while in the four months since the mobile app became available, over 2,300 animal owners have taken advantage of it. The most common breeds of cat receiving veterinary help include Scottish Fold and Scottish Straight, British shorthair, Abyssinian, bobtail and Siberian, while the dogs are mainly Yorkshire terriers, chihuahuas, dachshunds, Jack Russel terriers, bulldogs, and Pomeranians,” according to the DIT press office. In addition, mongrels and mixed-breed cats, Maine Coons, Persian, Siamese and Bengali cats, Cornish Rexes, Neva Masquerades and Angora cats have been to see Moscow’s vets. The dogs included Labradors, Corgis, Siberian Huskies, German shepherd dogs, Beagles, Poodles, Shiba Inus, Akita Inus, Alabays, Cocker Spaniels, Border Collies and mongrels. According to the DIT, most of the appointments were made to get advice from experts (over 11,200), for castration and sterilization of animals (over 10,900) and for clinical-diagnostic services (almost 9,000) including, for example, ECG and ultrasound examinations. The statistics show that the peak demand for the service was in the summer months, when people were vaccinating their pets and obtaining veterinary support documents to take them on vacation. Using the service is very simple: you simply press a few buttons on the mos.ru portal or use the mobile app. Animals can be taken to a veterinary clinic or a specialist can be called to the home. The list of services offered by the vets includes the following types of medical assistance: vaccination, veterinary documents, and castration or sterilization. Users of the app can subscribe to notifications that will remind them in advance (30 days before the date of vaccination) to arrange their pet’s annual rabies vaccination (for dogs and cats) and vaccinations against the infectious disease leptospirosis (dogs only).
