It is revealing that the game overwhelmingly
Diablo Immortal doesn't cost anything to Diablo IV Gold play, though after the first few hours, I found myself wish it had. I would've preferred to have paid a flat cost to play the game in my own way rather than being constantly bombarded by (surprisingly expensive) microtransactions each and every time. Diablo Immortal is by no way as good as free-to-play games can be, but every single F2P mechanic serves to hinder the game, not enhance it.
In the beginning, there's no requirement to pay the cost of Diablo Immortal when you're not interested in it. You'll still have the chance to play the entire story as well as find plenty of loot and take part in all the side activities. For the first 20 or 30 character levels you might not feel like you're missing out on much.
A few hours later, playing, the pace slows dramatically, and the F2P grind takes over. (This occurs around the time that you begin to really feel invested in the game. Picture this.) Unlike regular Diablo games, Diablo Immortal occasionally just stops the plot dead in its tracks and will not let you proceed unless you've reached an undetermined threshold. It's not that bad, except the game severely restricts your options to gain significant amounts of XP each day. After a few missions with time limits and dungeons, the choices are pretty all "run identical dungeons over and over" and "buy your own Battle Pass."
(It is revealing that the game overwhelmingly recommends buying Battle Pass.) Battle Pass as an efficient means to upgrade your skills.)
That's, of course the place where the shady F2P fraud kicks in. The game has about five or six different currencies, but it's entirely clear what you can earn, and which currency you'll need. It's worth noting that the Battle Pass costs between $5 to $15, based on the number of cosmetics you'd like to buy. However, there are two other "daily rewards" subscriptions, priced at between $10 and $20, respectively. If you're hoping to cheap Diablo IV Items earn every reward that the game gives you, the cost is an initial cost of $45.
