Analyst: Situation on the contact line is a mirror image of the situation for years formed around the negotiations on Karabakh
ArmInfo. Today's situation on the line of contact of the parties is a mirror image of the situation over the years formed around the negotiations on Karabakh. Ex-NKR
Foreign Minister, independent analyst Arman Melikyan expressed opinion to ArmInfo.
"Losses in the front line are mostly not a consequence of low
military training or technical helplessness of the Armenian side.
This is a consequence of the political failure of the ruling elite.
If our political decision- makers do not come to their senses and
show equal approaches to the situation, Baku will continue its
impunity and it will be clear who will be personally responsible for
our victims," he said.
On the eve of the visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to Baku,
Azerbaijan aggravated the situation on the contact line with the NKR
Defense Army. As a result of the enemy's actions, the Armed Forces
lost four servicemen. After that, on the night of June 20-21, the
enemy launched an unsuccessful sabotage. According to Vigen
Sargsyan, the Defense Minister voiced to journalists on June 28,
during the last ten days the enemy lost at least 8 servicemen.
According to unconfirmed data, this figure is much larger.
The analyst believes that Baku has earned its current "preferential"
right of unpunished aggression as a result of consistent and
painstaking political and diplomatic work. And Azerbaijan succeeded
in using a number of influential international platforms to attach a
label of the aggressor state to Armenia as a result of the chaotic
negotiation approaches of the Armenian sides of the conflict.
"Now any military step in Azerbaijan is justified by the right to
liberate its own territory by any possible means, while Armenian
counterstrikes are restrained by international or other mediators.
This privilege on the political arena allows the enemy to gain a
certain advantage on the battlefield, because he decides where, when
and with the use of what forces he will inflict another blow,
accompanied by painful losses for us," the analyst summed up.
