Armenian MES submitted preliminary data on damage caused by the fire in Khosrov Forest and in Vayots Dzor district
ArmInfo.According to the preliminary data of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, on the territory of state reserve Khosrov Forest as a whole, vegetation perimeter was 16 km thick, of which 360 hectares of forest. The forest fire in Vayots Dzor destroyed grass coverings with a perimeter of about 15 km, 320 hectares of which were forests. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Emergency Elections of Armenia David Karapetyan, presenting August 17 at a government meeting on the territory of the reserve.
According to the Deputy Minister, works on extinguishing fire near village Artavan of Vayots Dzor region, which raged since August 10, are completed. The main fires in Khosrov forest, raging since August 12, were extinguished on August 16. "The fire works, which lasted several days, were conducted in extremely unfavorable conditions - a complex mountainous terrain, local withered green areas, winds that contribute to the spread of the fire of the wind," Karapetyan said. At this stage, work is being done to extinguish local foci in the state reserve.
In the works to extinguish fire in Vayots Dzor and on the territory of Khosrov Forest, as David Karapetyan stressed, not only the units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, but also the Ministry of Defense, the Police, the Ministry of Nature Protection, the Ministry of Agriculture, representatives of local authorities and the private sector. The Russian special Il-76 shuttle continues to conduct final works to extinguish fires in the Khosrov Reserve.
