ArmInfo. RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan noted with satisfaction during the meeting with German Ambassador to Armenia Matthias Kiesler that the relations between
Armenia and Germany are becoming stronger and deeper from year to
year.
As the press service of the parliament told ArmInfo, Babloyan
also expressed gratitude to the German government for the constant
assistance to Armenia in the implementation of numerous effective
programs in the republic. Highly appreciating the steps taken by
Germany in important issues for Armenia, the head of the legislative
body of Armenia expressed gratitude to the Bundestag for adopting the
resolution on recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
The NA Chairman noted that Armenia, as a country transferred to the
parliamentary form of government, closely follows the elections of
the German Bundestag, which has extensive experience of parliamentary
government. Touching upon regional problems, Babloyan stressed the
importance of the reforms in Armenia and noted: "The carriers of
European values and the countries that do not carry them can not be
on the same plane." Armenia, unlike some neighboring countries, has
made serious progress in matters of democracy, the absence in our
country of political persecution, fair and transparent elections,
approaches to freedom of speech and the protection of human rights.
"At the same time, the NA Speaker highly assessed the Ambassador's
activity and expressed his gratitude to the first Ambassador of
Germany in Armenia, who in due time contributed to the development of
children's hematology in our country. In turn, Kisler assured the
speaker of the National Assembly that he will continue to promote the
development and deepening of ties between friendly countries.
At the same time, the Ambassador stressed the importance of
cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and
especially highlighted the joint work of the German International
Cooperation Society (GIZ) and the NA Standing Committee on
Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, whose positive results are
evident. Kisler expressed the hope that the newly elected parliament
would cooperate with its German counterparts equally productively.
Referring to the adoption of the resolution on recognition and
condemnation of the Armenian Genocide by the Bundestag, the
ambassador noted in particular: "By adopting this resolution, the
Bundestag took an important step, and I feel the attitude of the
Armenian people towards this step." The diplomat also touched on the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and stressed that Germany excludes a
military solution to the conflict. The Ambassador presented to the
speaker of the National Assembly his observations on the reforms of
recent years in Armenia and noted that progress is obvious - unlike
other post-Soviet countries. According to the diplomat, in Armenia,
politicians are ready to develop the country through reforms.
