Yelk Bloc initiates the creation of a parliamentary commission on studying pluses and minuses of the Armenian membership to EEU
ArmInfo. The faction of the opposition bloc "Yelk", which on the eve of introducing the draft of the republic's withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union, will present a draft law on the establishment of a temporary commission to study the pros and cons of Armenia's accession to the EEU in the coming days. Edward Marukyan, secretary of the faction, stated this from the rostrum of the parliament.
According to him, from the day of joining the EEU Armenia recorded a
total regress in all directions. "We recorded regress both in the
field of democracy, human rights and freedoms, and in the economic
sphere, political pressure on the republic increased from the
outside, the country was even more isolated, authoritarianism was
imported from the EEU states to Armenia," assured Marukyan.
In his turn, the vice speaker of the parliament from the "Tsarukyan"
bloc, Mikael Melkumyan, recalled that the bloc voted for Armenia's
accession to the EEU in due time and now there must be presented good
reasons for the force to change its position. At the same time, he
stated that the Tsarukyan bloc does not see much progress in Armenia
after joining the EEU.
To note, the ruling Republican Party has sharply criticized the
project of the Yelk bloc to withdraw from the EEU, saying that the
membership of the republic in this structure is based on its
political and economic interests.
